I’m starting the Crafternoon Treats sock club this month – I have a vlog on my channel on Youtube that gives more details but I thought it would be useful to have something permanent on my blog so that you can see my thinking behind the club, and you can check out what’s included.
Last weekend I published two episodes of the Crafternoon Treats Crochet Podcast and had an Etsy shop update. This went really well and I’ve been busy packing orders but I’ve also been working on the sock club idea that I mentioned.
I’ve been wanting to do a hand dyed sock club for a while now but wasn’t sure how to start things off. Since the podcasts I’ve had some really encouraging emails and messages so I think its time to take the plunge.
So welcome to the Crafternoon Treat sock club! Its going to be very low key to start with but has the capacity to grow, with more slots opening up in the future.
March will be the first month of the sock club and there will be 10 slots available. As this is the first one, I’m publishing photos of the yarn and giving full details so that you can see exactly what’s included. From April onwards, the colour ways will be a surprise and I’ll only show them once all the packages have reached their destination.
I want to make this a real treat and to be good value for money, so the packaging will be kept simple; the real star of the show will be the yarn and you’ll also have the option of adding in some yarn jewellery for your project.
The Crafternoon Treats sock club sock skein
The basic Crafternoon Treats sock club package will include one 100g skein of sock yarn. The bases will vary throughout the year. For March, its the Corriedale and Polwarth base (Crafternoon Corriepol sock), which is 85% wool and 15% nylon. Its Superwash but it was superwash treated in Yorkshire under strict environmental and safety conditions using a process that is as kind to the yarn as possible.
The colour way for March is Bluebells Rock, a delicately variegated yarn with pale blues, greys and violets with green highlights and vibrant blue and green speckles. An embodiment of the beautiful spring bluebell.

Two coordinating mini skeins
To go with the main skein are TWO mini skeins in coordinating colour ways. This month its a 20g mini skein of a gorgeous rich dark green semi solid and a 10g mini skein of a lovely bluish purple. All in the same base as the main skein. That gives you 520 metres of yarn in total (400 metres in the main sock skein, 80 metres in the 20g skein and 40 metres in the 10g skein)

You will receive a complimentary flower themed progress keeper on a 14mm lobster claw clasp and as a special deal for sock club purchasers, the chance to buy a coordinating set of SSK and K2T stitch markers, specially designed for knitting the gusset of a sock, at half the usual price.

The Crafternoon Treats sock club for March 2019 is open now and slots are available in my Etsy shop. Each one will be shipped out as ordered. I’ve also opened the slots for the April club, which will start shipping at the beginning of April and for the May and June clubs. Its also possible to sign up for three months (April, May and June), which includes a discount compared to buying one month at a time.
