Episode 35: Seascape ripple TaDah!

In this episode I’m mainly talking about progress in the finishalong but I start with a serious note as I’ve felt very affected by the tragic fire in London last week. Its difficult to feel anything but helpless but I’ve donated to a recognised JustGiving page and reflected on how life is precious and fragile and what it means to me in terms of my crafty life.

This is the fund I’ve donated to if you feel you want to give something too – but there are many other causes in desperate need so don’t feel obliged. Maybe a fund closer to home if you want to donate something to people who find themselves in a terrible siutation…

Podcast notes 35 ripple blanket finishalong

In the finishalong, I’ve now finished my seascape ripple blanket and I’ve also completed the second sock of my plain socks made using the continental knitting method.

I talk in quite a lot of detail about the neat ripple pattern and here are some quick links to find out more:

I’ve a couple of other projects on the go, but sometimes there are hurdles to overcome to just get motivated to carry on. And, unusually, its been very hot in East Yorkshire the last few days, so chunky blanket progress may be slow!

I’ve also been lucky enough to get a ball of the new Limited Edition West Yorkshire Spinners yarn that will be sold to raise some money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, a UK organisation that cares for people in their last weeks and days, allowing them to stay at home if they want to.

You can only buy it here at CityKnits online

Etsy shop update

I’ll be trying to update the shop regularly on Thursdays at 7pm UK time. This regular slot helps with my planning and dyeing schedule and hopefully its good for you too if you want to see the latest yarns.

The Tweedy DK base is now almost sold out and the Amazon warrior skeins are going fast but I do have some more of them to dye and new colourways will be heading to the shop this week (Thurs 22nd June).

Hi Kathryn, I’ve not long found your podcast and am binge watching and loving them. Love the Seascape ripple blanket but can’t find where you’ve listed which colours you used. Could you point me in the right direction. Thanks so much

I’ve never listed them – it was something I was going to get round to… maybe I’ll add it to my list again but generally its all Stylecraft special DK and it starts with all the sand colours; cream, gold, camel, stone etc then moves to the sky blue, silver and white and then into all the blues, getting darker towards the end where I think I used teal and midnight… that’s just off the top of my head but it might give you some ideas xxx
