Hello everyone! Episode 26 of the Crafternoon Treats podcast is live. This episode is mostly about my spinning journey and my growing fascination with British wools from our huge variety of sheep breeds. Watch here:
Podcast notes for Episode 26: In a spin
Welcome to the Crafternoon Treats Crochet podcast about crochet, yarny pleasures, a bit of knitting, spinning and sewing and loads of lovely chat.
First a bit of housekeeping about where you can find out more about my spinning journey and my latest adventures with British wool…
- Social media: I’d love to receive your comments so please leave a comment here, or on my blog or check me out on Instagram or on Facebook or in the Ravelry group – search Crafternoon Treats in the groups tab on Ravelry.
- Etsy shop news: Natural coloured ethically produced British wools in my Etsy shop now. For the first time I’m able to offer some rare breed wools. These are mostly DK weight rustic wools in gorgeous shades of cream, oatmeal, brown and black/brown available in 50g balls (110 metres/120 yards approx). Later in the month I will be dyeing some pure Teeswater, which is a highly lustrous rare breed wool in a heavy fingering/sports weight.
I’m contactable via my blog or on social media or by email at crafternoontreats [at] gmail [dot] com
Important news about giveaways from Episode 25
These will be announced in a separate Podcast shortie on my YouTube channel (as I forgot completely to include them in the video for Episode 26… ) If you have won any of the lovely Felted Button patterns or the hank of my hand dyed yarn I will also contact you directly through a Ravelry message. I’ll also come back and add them here…
Some links to things I talk about
Sew Susie Bloom, the yarn shop in Castleford, West Yorkshire is not online but you can check out the Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/SewSusieBloom/
If you are interested in learning to spin I would recommend finding out about local groups and classes in your area. I started out on my spinning journey with drop spindling before moving onto a spinning wheel (which is quite a considerable investment). A drop spindle and some fibre will set you back only about £20 and you can try it out and see how you get on.
There are many tutorials on YouTube on drop spindling, spinning with a wheel and preparing fibre. Just search around and see what suits you best.
