This lovely pattern is by Zeina Olivier (ZootyOwl). This is a follow up to the ever-popular Road Trip Scarf, which is free on Ravelry. Like the original design, this is easy to make and easy to memorise but can be embellished to be as fancy and elaborate as you like.

Echinacea

This beautiful crescent shawl was designed by by Andree Anne Marceau (AAM Designs on Ravelry). Echinacea is a shallow crescent shawl with a lace border and eyelet detail. To make the entire shawl would take a large skein – 470 yards or you could use a skein with less yardage to make the body of the shawl and then do the border in a contrasting yarn. Designed for fingering weight.

The clever designer Briana K Designs has written a pattern for a crochet and a knitted version of this shawl. A copy of each one was donated for Episode 22 of the podcast.

This asymmetric shawl can be made in small or large. Both sizes are included in the pattern, which uses one or two skeins of fingering weight yarn. A lovely light shawl whether made with a hook or needles!

This gorgeous shawl is by designer Lily Go is a beautiful and advanced design featuring beading on the border. It can be made in a medium or an XL size and that includes a beaded edging. This was done as a CAL this summer and the pattern is just gorgeous. Probably something for an experienced crocheter rather than a beginner. The shawl requires between 2 and 3 skeins of fingering weight yarn depending on size made. It can also be made in laceweight yarn to make a truly gossamer thin creation.

The dragonfruit shawl

This is a lovely shallow crescent crochet shawl pattern by  KnotTheorist on Ravelry. Its another intermediate level shawl that is worked in three sections. Although its a little more complicated the result is worth it. The finished blocked wingspan is60 inches and it has a depth of 11 inches. If you use a fingering weight yarn you can expect to use between 480 and 600 yards, depending on the size you require.

This huge and lovely crochet shawl design is by Yarn and Style on Ravelry. It is large and uses 1000 yards of sports weight alpaca yarn but spread between three colours producing a very striking looking shawl that is 90 inches long (225 cm). This is a good pattern for newby crochet shawl makers as it has an easy stitch pattern and very relaxing to make but you need to have confidence with colour changes.
