Crafternoon Treats Podcast 21 is out!

Crafternoon Treats Podcast 21

Crafternoon Treats Podcast 21 has been a bit delayed because of poor light over here these short November days! I started podcasting in April, so I have been spoiled over the spring, summer and early autumn so struggling a little bit now to achieve good enough lighting…

The solution was to podcast in the middle of the day on Sunday so please enjoy!

Crafternoon Treats Podcast 21 – Notes and links

The video is just under an hour and ten minutes and I have new music! Its written specially for my podcast by a very talented young musician and composer, Oliver Chester-Nolan. Its actually not finished – I’ve used the rough version and will be making use of the final version, hopefully next episode. It sounds fantastic already, so the polished version will be amazing!

Report on the Stylecraft blog tour

This took place at the end of October, early November and my post was on the 2nd November, where I released my new circular blanket pattern, the Blandala, on Ravelry.

You can read about the other bloggers’ projects (and they were all lovely) in my blog post here.

Some birthday retail therapy

More about my trip to Sheffield, to Meadowhall, to Leeds on my craft shop crawl and birthday lunch out, and a weekend trip to Harrogate to Yarn etc – a fab yarn shop – and a slightly less enjoyable visit to a craft event.

A return to crochet socks

I’m determined to beat socks, whether knitted or crocheted, or both (even in the same sock). I have done one successful pattern for the Super sonic socks, which is available on Craftsy and works well with West Yorkshire Spinners yarn. But I want to make more socks and use other designs and different yarns.

My latest pair of crocheted socks are in one of my own hand dyed yarns, in one of the early autumn colourways. I’m trying something new with the cuff to try to get that all-elusive stretchiness…

Update on the Flower Power Blanket CAL and the JAYG tutorial

The Flower Power Blanket CAL is coming to an end and the tutorial released on Saturday 19th November showed how to complete round 6 of the motif used in the blanket, and then how to join each motif together using the join-as-you-go technique.

Remember that the tutorial, like most of my crochet video tutorials, is available for right handed crocheters and left handed hooksters.

I also have an update about the chunky 100% wool I’m using in my second blanket – I explain why I’m no longer planning to offer this for sale.

Yarn dyeing update

My next Etsy shop update will be on Thursday 24th November at 7pm UK time and this section is a bit of a preview and a more general chat about my yarn dyeing adventures.

You can also preview the yarn available in the upcoming update on my blog (post to be published Tuesday 22 November).

Podcasting plans and future giveaways

Just a quick chat about my podcasting plans and the great news that we are almost at 2500 YouTube subscribers – to celebrate I’ll be announcing a bumper crop of giveaways in the next episode, which will be out before Christmas.

In fact, I will aim to do two podcast episodes before Christmas and then take a little break and be back in the New Year 🙂
