This week I’m doing something that I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m starting Crochet and Chat Selby to meet up with other folk who are just as obsessed with crochet and yarn. That’s Selby North Yorkshire, UK and anyone in the local area is welcome. Its the equivalent of a Knit and Natter group but I’m not much of a knitter… But knitters (and tea drinkers) are very welcome to come and join in.
The first Crochet and Chat Selby will be tomorrow, Weds 27 January at The Little Coffee House at 8, Brook Street Selby. Its a lovely cafe serving full meals downstairs and lovely coffee, gorgeous tea and luscious home made cakes, scones and tea cakes upstairs in the recently created lounge. I will be there just after 9am and you are welcome to come and drop in, or stay for the full 2 and a half hours until 11.30am. Bring a project and buy what you like to eat and drink.

We’ll have the room to ourselves and it seats 12 people. There are quite steep but carpeted steps up to the lounge so I’m really sorry that its not disabled-friendly and probably not too good if you have pre-school children that you want to bring. It is quite tricky to find somewhere that is suitable for a yarny group and this seems the best option so far.
The good news is that the lounge is lovely with sofas and comfy chairs and the lovely Jane will make our coffees and fetch all the cakes to us upstairs. Liz and Jane and both lovely and the cafe has extremely good reviews on Trip Advisor.
Getting to Crochet and Chat Selby
I’ve included a map with the vital parking information below. There is not parking directly outside the cafe but its a short walk (about 400 metres) from the Selby Morrisons car park, which is free to park for 3 hours. They do have cameras on entry and exit so make sure you don’t overstay your welcome! You can also park in Tesco next door, again for 3 hours free, or at the Back Micklegate Car Park on the other side of the High Street. Three hours are £1.30 and its £3.00 for all day.
To get to Brook Street, walk through to the High Street (go past Wilkinsons on your right and then turn left past M and Co. Turn right onto the High Street and walk to the junction, then turn left onto Brook Street. Its probably a bit further, maybe 600 metres…
I really hope that Crochet and Chat Selby will take off and become a regular thing! If you need any further details, please email me at crafternoontreats@gmail.com xxxxx
Hi. I am wanting to crochet with others and also be guided from the experience. Does this session do this and if so where and what time. X
Do you have a regular she dual of meetings. The post only refers to one in January.

If I fancied coming some time ,could somebody teach me how to Crochet s nd follow a pattern ?
Hi Anne the crochet and chat isn’t really set up for teaching but I spoke to Kat at The Wonky Stitch in Selby and if there is enough interest she is keen on hosting some crochet classes/crochet clinics. She has a workshop room for 6, which would be ideal. I’ll email you so that you have my email and we can sort something out if you are interested in coming along xxx
There’s also the car park behind the Town Hall (just across the road), it is a Pay & Display. Hope you have a successful meeting, hopefully I will be able to join you one morning.
Thanks Wendy – I don’t know Selby that well so thanks for the info! xxx Hope to see you soon
