The Stylecraft blog tour is coming…

Stylecraft blog tour stitch pattern for the tote bag

Just a quick post with a heads up that the Stylecraft blog tour starts this Friday and will arrive at Crafternoon Treats on Monday 28th September!

Stylecraft have organised a tour of 10 blogs over 10 days between Friday September 25th 2015 and Sunday 4th October 2015. The crochet bloggers involved have had the luxury of being able to play with a whole pack of the new Stylecraft DK limited edition colours! We’ve been challenged to each come up with a new design and free pattern for you to show how these gorgeous colours work together. The photo above is a sneaky peak showing a small part of my new ‘thing’…

Here they are in all their glory!

Stylecraft Special DK limited edition colours

At the centre is duck egg, the colour that won the public vote after the competition held earlier this year. More about that later in the post.

To the left is grass green, above that cypress, then going round the outside in a clockwise direction, mustard, empire, pistachio, kelly green and lobelia. Just behind the ball of duck egg are boysenberry on the left and fuchsia on the right as you look at the photo.

Each ball contains 50g of yarn – that’s half what is in a standard ball of Stylecraft Special DK.

How did these new colours get picked?

Stylecraft ran a competition earlier in the year and asked ordinary crocheters from far and wide to send in their suggestions for a new colour. The idea was to make just one and put it into full production to join all the other colours in the Special DK range.

People sent in loads of ideas and items that were the colour they wanted. A panel picked the top 10 new colours and this shortlist was put to the public vote. The duck egg won.

BUT: everyone loved the other colours so much and the interest in them all was so overwhelming, Stylecraft have produced them all as this special limited edition pack. I have no information about how long it will be available, so get it snapped up! It will be on sale in mid October from all the usual suppliers. If you are going to the Knitting and Stitching show at Ally Pally in October, you will be able to see it there.

I love the new colours, especially the panton, I’ve been waiting for a bright green that’s not the acid green tone in stylecraft. I’m a knitter, and this year due to Jane Crow Lily blanket I have progressed to quite a good level of crochet competence. In fact I’m now crochet mad and stylecraft addicted. the colours are lush and just perfect to show off my new skill. I am responsible for getting my cousins, friends, daughter and granddaughter who’s 6yrs old into hooking. It’s a shared interested and an exciting hobby. I’m running a therapy group for knitters that want to stop smoking…knit and quit. Thank you stylecraft
