Granny envelope clutch bag – TaDah!

Featured 1 crochet envelope clutch - free tutorial crafternoontreats.com

This week I got inspired by seeing a tiny granny envelope clutch bag on Pinterest and I tracked it down to Janette’s blog at The Green Dragonfly. It was a post from 2011 but it looked a perfect project to make a small bag using my pattern for the retro granny square. This has been the basis for all the bags made in the Bagalong I’ve been running…

Detailed tutorial on how to make the granny envelope clutch bag is now ready! If you want to make one though, read on a bit because there is a discount code for the yarn I used…

This bag was a very quick make. I started it the evening before yesterday, made the lining yesterday and then finished it in the evening. Its now with my daughter and is having a little trip to Berlin this weekend as her tiny handbag. I’m amazed she likes the crochet stuff I’m making at the moment but crochet is ‘in’ with twenty-somethings 🙂

More about me and Deramores

Before I share loads of yummy pictures I just want to talk about the yarn that I’ve used. As you may know, I’ve started talking to Deramores about collaborating on projects and they are keen to support my blog. I’ve been doing it just for fun so far but I enjoy it so much that I’m spending FAR too much money on yarn for projects. Rather than charging for tutorials, this sort of relationship would be a nice way to make the blog self-financing while keeping it all free for you.

So…. I’ve been trying their own brand acrylic yarn, Deramores Studio DK. Now, I’m not just saying this because of their offer of support, this is my true opinion – its gorgeous. It feels soft and bouncy and gives lovely stitch definition, as you can see from the square I made for the granny envelope clutch:

A 20% discount offer for you!

The yarn feels more like a cotton merino blend to me, not an acrylic yarn. Its soft yet bouncy and it produces a very nice crochet fabric. I want to use loads more and if you want to try it, Deramores have offered me my own discount code to offer readers of my blog and followers on Facebook and Instagram.

If you go to the Deramores site and add the code TREATS at check out, you can get 20% off Studio DK AND Studio Chunky. This chunky yarn was used in my Festival bag and comes in some lovely bright shades. You can also read more out more about me and Deramores.

Of course, this little bag hardly uses any yarn so just buy one ball if you want to try it and make a one colour bag. This gorgeous evening granny clutch bag was made by Vicky Stanton and posted in the Bagalong with Crafternoon Treats Facebook group:

The easiest way is to line it with a strip of fabric. That would have been a good idea but my daughter needed it for the weekend 🙂 She wasn’t going to put much in it so it was fine xxx
