Hello and its very nice to be back on my blog to have a bit of a chat. It was lovely and spring-like here yesterday with sunshine and blue skies and the pic of my windowsill display of a mixture of spring flowers from the garden, rescued from the recent gales, and realistic looking not-real pot plants from Ikea really brightened the washing up…
I’ve been busy recently with tutorials and with organising the charity draw for The Spring Flower Blanket that I contributed to. This blanket, which consists of 120 individual flower squares made by women who chat on Instagram, was put together by Heather of The Patchwork Heart. As you know I won the blanket in our little group draw and decided to raffle it to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Well, what a whirlwind. I have spent a lot of time sharing on Facebook and Instagram and asking, begging and nagging others to share and shout too. Which they have to marvellous effect! Heather, of course has done a great job sharing on her FB page and her blog as well as IG and big thanks go to Lucy of Attic24, whose share last Sunday boosted our reach by a massive 50,000 people.
The donations that have been coming in have generated many happy moments and, as of today, the total now stands at £3378!! Over 500 people have donated and been very generous with many opting to enter several times.
The admin has been a lot of work, but I will gloss over that. I will write up a post explaining exactly the process for choosing the winner randomly before the draw closes on the 23 April. In the meantime, I am still begging and asking for anyone and everyone to share if they have an FB page or blog or IG account. We have to reach an awful lot of people to generate a donation so every little helps, as they say at that well-known supermarket…

Other than that I’ve been procrastinating about doing my accounts and day-job admin. Which has caused me to spend a lot of time faffing. I’m in the process of making another giant granny mandala, this time in bright Easter colours. My first one in soft, vintage spring colours is not even finished yet but you can’t have too many works in progress can you?
I’m part way through the tutorial and am finding its a lovely way to spend Good Friday – a very wet and drizzly and grey one here. The mandala is really cheering me up though as are my latest spring flowers. And a few candles as its so dreary…
This is how its looking at the moment and I’m still not quite decided just how giant its going to be…
Happy Easter and I hope you are having a colourful break, no matter what the weather brings.

Try as I might, I couldn’t work out which of the plants on your windowsill are artificial! They are very impressive. Loving the mandala – it’s one of the things I keep meaning to make – and your kitchen looks very cosy. Have a good Easter. x
Thanks! I was pleased with those plants – and I can’t kill them 🙂
