I’ve been following the Planet Penny blog for a while now and noticed last week that she is running a Happy Friday event on her blog and asking other blogs to join in.
The idea is to post about something that made me happy this week and to add a Linky link to the bottom of the blog so that we can blog hop and see what other happy moments have been going on to brighten up this cold week in January.
My Planet Penny Happy Friday moment
It actually happened on Monday – I had been into a nearby town to have a meeting and as this finished around lunchtime, I treated myself to a short detour through the town centre on my way back to the car.
I needed some routine bits and pieces so went into Wilkinsons and Home Bargains – not high end stores but very dependable for the basics.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this storage jar sitting on the shelf, in Wilkinsons priced at just £4.
It had a twin and these were rapidly moved from the shelf into my basket. They seemed so adorable I thought they would be snapped up before my eyes. I also bought two really dinky glass kilner jar mugs, one in turquoise and one in pink – two of my favourite colours.
Here they are with the other goodies I found in Home Bargains:
The tins are lovely and were less than £3 for all three – and two pens for £1. This was the cheapest retail therapy I have had in a long, long time.
I didn’t know what I would use the tins for at the time but they were too good to miss. Later that evening it was obvious they were perfect for my crochet tools.
Well, almost all of them – which was my second smile of the day…
I’ll have to go a long way to find a tin big enough for my extreme crochet hook (which I still haven’t used since I bought it in October – tut tut).
I ought to add that I haven’t been sponsored by Wilkinsons or Home Bargains to write this post, or got the stuff as freebies. But if they want to send me lovely cutey floral things in future, I will be very happy to take pictures and write about them til the cows come home – ha ha ha.
Just had to say…..I treated myself to this very same set of tins from eBay a few weeks ago, for my sewing kit…..they cost me £10, so you definitely got a bargain!!
Hi Karen – £10? wow… Some ebay sellers are very cheeky 🙂
Those jars are so cute! Think I may pay a visit tomorrow too! Have a good week Jo x
Thanks Jo – hope you find some x
Not done anything like this before but I’m really enjoying taking part so thanks to Penny for starting it all off.
Now then, Crafternoon Treats – I’m off into town tomorrow and I think I know where I might be heading….
Ha ha – I’ve had a lot of interest in those Happiness jars on Facebook – glad I snapped up those two while I still could x Kathryn
Hello – I found your blog via Planet Penny. I love those tins, they’re absolutely gorgeous. We don’t have a Home Bargains around here and it looks like we’re seriously missing out! I too have a very underused over-sized crochet hook! Have a good weekend. x
Nice to see you! I’ll be popping over to the other blogs later – Happy Friday xxx
You really hit the jackpot shopping! I love what you bought and the bright colors will certainly add cheer to the cold winter days. I’m visiting from Planet Penny’s Happy Friday……
Hello and thanks for visiting! I’m going to visit around the other blogs later – this is such a good idea 🙂 x
Ooh, I’m soo envious! What a bargain and you couldn’t possibly not take them home! Thanks for joining in with Happy Friday, x
