Less in 2020 vlogpost Jan 12

You can watch my first vlogpost of 2020 here:

I wrote about some of my intentions for 2020 to shop more wisely and use less plastic packaging. I’ve already switched to a milk delivery in glass bottles, I’m getting my eggs locally and making my own bread and yoghurt. The next step has been to find a better source of fresh fruit and veg.

On Friday I went on a little trip out to a local farm shop, Bert’s Barrow. This is about 12 miles from where I live but they source most of their produce from local farms. More in the summer than now, actually, but its still possible to buy fresh, locally grown produce if you’re prepared to eat and cook seasonally.

They do say which produce is imported, so you can choose what you want and you can avoid plastic, so two wins in one. They also deliver and will deliver to me so that is really great news. A box of mixed veg, salad and fruit once a fortnight is all I need and its only going to cost £16.50.

I did, of course, use the car to get there this time but I made the most of the trip by visiting Fairburn Ings, which is a beautiful nature reserve just outside Monk Fryston. The day was astounding – the sky and water had almost mediterranean summer blues but the landscape was so obviously winter.

I took quite a lot of footage and I think it would be lovely to put together a nature vlog set to music to give you all a bit of relaxation! Watch this space xxx Kathryn
