A competition winner and crochet blanket progress

This weekend I ran a little competition on my blog and in the two Facebook groups, Bagalong with Crafternoon Treats and The Crafternooners. Thank you for supporting it so well – in total there were over 440 entries and loads of lovely comments on my blog and on the Three Bears Yarn blog. Its nice to be part of the launch of a new yarn company – who knows – they might be really big in the future.

So, the winner. I’ve been waiting for her to pick up my email or Facebook message and now that she has I am very pleased to let everyone know that the pack of scrummy cotton yarn will be on its way to Catriona Berry. Catriona has been a very active member of the Bagalong group for a few months now so well done!!!

Last week was pretty hectic with work and blogging and was topped off by some friends visiting and having their car break down on my drive. We had the fun of the AA visiting Thursday evening (but failing to fix the issue) and then coming back with a mega tow-truck on Friday morning to take them and their car off for repair to Doncaster. Thankfully they were able to get on their way by late afternoon to attend a wedding in Leicester, but it was a bit touch and go.I then had to get up at really stupid o-clock on Saturday as I was catching the train from Selby to Manchester just after 7am to get to the Handmade Fair in time to see Lucy of Attic24 chat to Kirstie Allsopp.

It was an enjoyable day but after getting home just before 8pm, I was pretty tuckered out by the time it was all over. So I decided to have a quiet day at home yesterday: jammies on all day, fire burning, easy-to-make food and lots of crochet relaxation. I even had an afternoon snooze! Must be getting old…

Just being able to lounge about and crochet on what takes your fancy is a bit of an indulgence but its a brilliant way to charge the batteries. I sat with the laptop on the sofa for a bit and put together a blog post about the day before and then just made some progress on various projects I have on the go at the moment.

I’m almost finished with my second Northmoor Lock shawl, which I’ve decided to give to a friend who has not been well recently. Just a few rows to go now so this should be completed very soon…

I also did a few rows on my Attic24 Sunny CAL granny stripe blanket but I am way behind, not even finished with the second set of stripes yet…

I did make more progress with the large and extended log cabin square from the same Attic24 Sunny CAL that I’ve been doing to turn into a fat bottomed bag. This is now measuring nearly 60cm across and I am a bit torn as I can see that carrying on would produce a very nice and striking lap blanket…

Although it was mainly about doing fun crochet, I did also stray into making a bit of a start on a couple of projects I am doing for blogs, mine and others, so it will be a little while before I can share any of that properly. What I can say is that it involves sparkly bits and bling!!!!

Congratulations to the lucky winner! I bet bagging such a lovely prize made her day! Love that shawl, and the yarn – beautiful. I didn’t really love the log cabin square when I saw it on display at Yarndale, despite loving all of Lucy’s other designs, but seeing it here is slowly making me change my mind…
